Holiday Opportunities

In the Judeo-Christian West (whose influence dominates throughout the world), there is a lot of emphasis placed on the last few weeks of December and beginning of January. Christmas and Hanukkah fervor sweeps through America (where the author has most experience this lifetime), and even internationally. It is a time where much business slows down significantly, and travel booms as many many families reunite.

As families come together, there can be an uptick in stress, conflict, and simultaneously a golden opportunity for karmic resolution. We want to remind you this holiday season, to deeply prioritize self care. Suggestions include:

  • Set aside time for true relaxation
  • Get a massage
  • Increase compassion as you remember how stressed others can get this time of year
  • Celebrate that you are becoming increasingly free from stress!
  • Bring mindfulness into your consumption choices
  • Be sure to exercise
  • Examine the patterns you notice

In this (hopefully) sacred time, the patterns are often much more at the surface. Habitual ways of relating and reactions create misunderstandings and further conflict. Dramas and disagreements are all too frequently the norm. While some traditions only talk about the soul, you have a divine chance to fully drop in.

What a time to slow way down – take some deep breaths – and truly see what’s going on. While the corporations are largely focused on a time of great spending by many, you can go deep within. Instead of worrying about gifts, give yourself the present of presence. That is something that can be shared with others – a priceless offering.
